2012 New Year Cards
These are cards I pulled from each deck that I owned at the time of the draw which was the first week of Jan. I wanted to choose one card from each deck for New Year 2012. Not necessarily to be read as a spread but more of an individual message from each deck to guide me throughout the year. If you want a shot at trying to blend them together, be my guest, leave a comment. I’ll just give you what the LWB (little white book) says about the card that came with each deck.
1. Magician (Rider Waite Smith deck)
I don’t have the LWB
This is taken from Rachel Pollack – Seventy Eight Degrees Of Wisdom
He is a lighhtening rod . By opening himself up to spirit he draws it down into himself, and then that downward hand, like the lightening rod buried into the ground , runs the enrgy into earth . Into reality.
2. The Moon (Pearls of Wisdom deck)
LWB – The moon rules the tides of the body and the mind. (I have a Cancer sun & Cancer ascendent ruled by the moon double time!) She appears to be a bright source of light, but, in truth, she only reflects. The tools of ritual and occult are her purview. Be careful you do not allow yourself to be deceived by mistaking the reflection for the thing itself. (so me!) All answers reside within. The occult can take you to the door of the invisible, but it is the Divine grace abd guidance that open the door. Ask for what you need. You are the reflection of the Divine. Your nervous system is home to the Cosmic mind. (ha! true cancer trait with my Aquarian moon!) The more educated and refined your nervous system , the better reflector you are. Plumb the depths of yourself , which happily, are infinite. Settle for no less!
3. The Priestess (Thoth deck)
LWB – She is Isis the eternal virgin, and again she is Artemis. It is for this reason she is clothed in a luminous veil of light , light being viewed not as manifestation , but as the veil of the spirit.
4. the Star (sun & moon tarot deck)
LWB – Linked with Aquarius (my moon) associated with self confidence and recognition, After the storm comes peace and after darkness comes light. The Star card encourages us to have hope, optimism, faith in the divine intuition, and trust in our inner gude. It offers the gift of premonition. The Star is the light that guides the way.The pyramids have an astrological connection to the Star. Sirius. The mermaid water bearer introduces a holistic new perception of life in the Age Of Aquarius. The flowing of water form the ancient pitcher gives wisdom and life to the world , and activities to the subconscious. Two fish suggest the sign of pisces , signifying oppositions and developments. The Hebrew character Tzaddi is the symbol of the fishook, which represents morality.
5. Ace of Swords (Housewives Tarot deck)
LWB – Challenges , Trials, Upcoming Ordeals. getting right to the point, the Ace of Swords warns of an upcoming ordeal that will test your “metal”. A slice of gumption with a dallop of common sense will get you through whatever trial comes your way. Your mind is sharp and ready for a challenge, so don’t be afraid to take on those who try to cut you out of the picture.
6. The Seven of Pentacles (The Guilded Tarot)
LWB – A woman with a basket stands by a tree laden with pentacles. The sheep in the field watch her while a squirrel considers trying to make off with one of the pentacles. Like the Chariot, Major Arcana VII (my birth card) this woman has exerted her will and control to make this tree fruitful. However, she is going a step beyond the Chariot, she is assessing her investment to see if the yeild matches her expectations and was worth the effort she put into it. You have sown seeds of some sort, they are bearing fruit and it’s time for harvest. Take time to compare the investment with the results. If it is not what you’d hoped, determine what you can do differently next time. Be aware of being so excited about the harvest that you neglect the balance sheet.
7. L’Imperatrice (The Empress Marseilles deck)
LWB- The Empress represents powerful female forces. When symbolizing a state of mind, she is telling you that you are brimming over with creativity. The time is right for you to expand and grow. Financially and materially you will be well provided for, and your basic needs will be comfortably met. If you are an artist of any kind you will be able to draw on the practical energy required to paint, write , sculpt. If your question is related to career, this card directs your attention towards this area, or anything that is associated with beauty, such as hairdressing, massage, exercise, aromatherapy, or skin care. Your creative impulses may also express themselves in cooking, gardening, or the urge to make your home a more beautiful place. Ideally, every idea must be conceived , nurtured and ultimately given birth to. This is the essence of the Empress, who denotes growth and birth. These concepts may apply to a physical baby, business, work of art, or love relationship. When signifying a person, the Empress stands for a warm, loving and sesual woman. She may represent a man’s great love, the woman he wants to share his life with. She may enter your life as someone strong and caring, who is creative; someone who is intensly alive and enjoys life to the full. This person will stimulate these qualities in you, for the Empress means abundance, sunshine, and harvest on every level. Physically this card often foretells a pregnancy or birth. You are fertile and highly receptive. Harmonious sexual relationships are indicated, with special emphasis on the physical expressions of love and affection.
8. Berkana (Rune – Book of Runes – R. H. Blum)
LWB – Growth -Rebirth- Birch tree
Another of the Cycle Runes, Berkana represents a form of fertility that fosters growth both symbolically and actually. The growth may occur in affairs of the world, family matters, the relationship of self to the Self, or to the Divine. A Rune that leads to blossoming and ripening, Berkana is concerned with the flow of beings into their new forms. It’s action is gentle, penetrating and pervasive. What is called for here is to consider your issue with care and awareness. First disperse resistance, then accomplish the work. For this to happen your will must be clear and controlled, your motives correct. Any dark corners should be cleansed; this must be carried out dillegently and sometimes with expert help. Modesty, patience, fairness, and generosity are called for here. Once resistance is dispersed and rectification carried out and seen to hold firm, then through steadfastness and right attitude, the blossoming can occur.
9. Three of Pentacles (Barbara Walker Tarot deck)
LWB – Work
A man and woman decorate their temple wall. he carves symbolic figures , she writes runes; knowledge of such writing was first attributed to women. Among pictured figures are Cernunnos the Horned God, the lunar wolf, a siren, dragon ship, lemniscate, greek cross, Cross of Wotan, triangle, triceps , moon, swastika and sigils of dieties. The Three of Pentacles means joint effort, teamwork, productive functioning in cooperation with others.
10. 6 of Spades No. 29 (Gypsy witch Fortune Telling cards)
LWB – None – The card actually has the meaning on the card in the upper right hand corner.
The mouse denotes loss by theft; nearby it denotes recovery after great difficulty; but distant, the loss will be irretrievable. ** Normally when you use these cards there is a card, a significator, you use to represent a woman and one to represent a man. You use whichever is applicable and do a spread. Hence the near or far reference in this card. If the mouse is near the significator card it means this… if the mouse is distant in proximity of the card it means that… well since the card is next to me , I will take it as near. So be warned you taketh and I getith back. haha
11. The Four Of Cups (Art Noveau Tarot)
LWB – The man and the woman are at a crossroads in their relationship. Possibly, the real world is intruding on the romantic mists in which they have been living. -weariness , aversion, disgust, disappointment , bitter experience, stationary period in life.
12. 30 Rabbit (Medicine Cards)
Rabbit medicine people are so afraid of tragedy, illness, disaster, and “being taken” that they call those very fears to them to teach them lessons. The key note here is : What you resist will persist! What you fear most is what you will become. Here is the lesson. If you pulled Rabbit, stop talking about horrible things happening and get rid of “what if” in your vocabulary. This card may signal a time of worry about your future or trying to exercise your control over that which is not yet in form- the future. Stop now! Write your fears down and be willing to feel them running through your body into Mother Earth as a give-away.
13. Queen of Disks (Cosmic Tribe Tarot)
LWB – Should the Queen of Disks come to you in a reading, contemplate sustenance. the Queen of Disks is the person in your life or aspect of yourself making sure the basic necessities are taken care of. Who do you depend on to provide you with food, clothing, and shelter? Look at your home. is it time to reorganize or redecorate? Check the cupboard. Do you have plenty of nutricious , delicious food? If you have those things use your resources to nourish those around you. Make a fabulous dinner or throw a party to celebrate abundance. If you lack these neccesities , do what you need to aquire them. Remember , like the Queen of Disks, you have roots that go deeply into the earth and branches that lift you into the sky. Give thanks!
14. Justice (The Lovers Tarot deck)
LWB - When you recieve Justice, you are experiencing equilibrium in your life. No one area of activity is being over-emphasized in favour of another. You will find it easy to detach yourself from your own ego, and see things with exceptional clarity now. This is not to say that you are cold and unfeeling. The kind of detachment signified by Justice is familiar to students of Eastern phylosophy. It is the ability to see th whole, to act in accordance with the promptings of the higher self, even when these do not serve your immediate needs or aims. In th ancient Chinese book of wisdom, the I Ching, or Book of Changes, this type of behavior is accredited to a figure called ‘the superior man’. The superior man always seeks balance, the perfect equilibrium in any situation. This does not mean passivity, but an ability to be fair-minded , and think things through logically. Your analyitcal powers are excellent now, and you amy find yourself advising others more than usual at this time.
